Master Schedule

Elementary Schools do not need to use a Master Schedule for CALPADS Reporting. The appropriate CALPADS- Specific fields are also available on the Elementary Teachers form.

This field is built during the extract using information from many fields. This CALPADS field is used to associate multiple sections as being part of the same "Class" for purposes of determining Average Class Size.
Master Schedule SchoolMST.SCL
Master Schedule SchoolThis field is generally left blank (0). It can be populated with a different school code to take attendance from within different school where a teacher is associated with two different schools. The CRSE/CRSC and SCSE/SCSC extracts will skip MST sections that have a "School" value populated that doesn't match MST.SC or STU.HS. See Teacher Multi-School Attendance.
Class IDMST.CID09.18Class IDThe Master Schedule Section Class ID field (MST.CID) can be used to link sections together in the CRSE extract. This will impact the CALPADS 3.1 Class Size - By Content Area Report for classes that are combined into one class with the same teacher, time and location but different section numbers. Ex: French 3 and 4 are separate sections but can be linked together by populating the MST.CID field on both sections with the same value, i.e. 100.

For Team Teaching or Job Sharing situations, you must populate the additional Teacher Number fields.
Multiple Teacher Status

If multiple teachers are assigned to a class, you must populate these fields with code 01 or 02 to represent the way teachers are working together. Code 09 can be used to identify those classes that have more than one teacher, but they are not to be extracted with a multiple teachers status code.

Highly Qualified Teacher
HQT Competency Code
CALPADS has retired this code set. Civil Rights is still collecting for the 15- 16 school year reporting.
All sections associated with "NCLB Core Courses" must have each teacher assignment populated with a Highly Qualified value. The CALPADS Codes for this field differ from those codes used in the past so be sure to verify your data is populated correctly. This information can optionally be populated in the STH (Staff Highly Qualified) table. And then by using the "Populate MST HQT from STH" Macro, the fields in the Master Schedule will get populated. This does require that you have the NCLB Core Area populated on the Courses form.

This field should only be populated if Education Service has a value of "1". It should also never be populated with "English" or "Sign Language". As of CALPADS 2023/24 academic year, the code will automatically translate to the 3-character language code from code set Languages (STU.HL).

**As of the 2019/2020 school year, this field is not used for English Learner Services. PGM will now be used to collect Language data at the student level in the SPRG file as an Education Program code. Only 2 Instructional Strategy codes remain:
  • 300 - Home and Hospital
  • 700 - Special Education

CALPADS Code Set: Career Technical Education Funding Provider Category
Itinerant Teacher

This field, when flagged, will inspire the CALPADS CRSE extract to include teachers as a reported class, even without any students. Only courses that have terms which overlap census day will be extracted.
