The View MST pop-up window assists in scheduling by giving users control over their view of the master schedule. To get started, filter Pages for Classes, or navigate to Student Data > Scheduling > Classes. Click Edit to move into Edit Mode (the Edit button displays for users with Update permission to Class Schedules). Click View MST.

The View MST Display
The View MST pop-up can be viewed in three different ways, but the data and functionality within each window is the same.
View MST can be displayed in a window that can be moved around your browser window:

Click the pin icon to dock the View MST pop-up under the Edit Mode workspace:

The docked view moves under the Edit Mode workspace and stays there, so that the view of the workspace is unimpeded. Click the pin icon again to return View MST to a floating window, or click the X to close it. Aeries remembers the last view used (floating, docked or separate window) and opens View MST that way next time.
Click the pop-out iconto move View MST into a separate browser window, titled Master Schedule Display:
The separate browser window can be dragged to another monitor. Clickto return to the docked view of View MST. Clicking
will close the separate browser window.
Filtering the View MST Window
Every active section in the master schedule is listed in View MST; sections with a Status Tag (inactive sections) are not shown. For each section, the section number, period, term, days, course ID, course title, department, teacher number, teacher name, room, grade range, max seats, total students, seats left, wait list count and more are listed. The floating and docked views show 25 sections per page, with page buttons at the bottom. Click a column header to sort by that column. The master schedule can be filtered by any of the column headers. At the top of each column, a filter icon is displayed. Click the
to filter by that column header. More than one filter can be applied.
For example, a student needs a first period biology class. First, click on the in the PD column and type 1 into the field under Equal to:
Click Filter. The View MST list will now only display sections during first period. Next, click in the Title column and type "bio" (partial input is supported) into the field under Contains:
Click Filter and the View MST list will only display first period sections of courses that contain "bio" in their course titles:
Filters can be cleared individually, by clicking the Clear button within each filter box. All of the filters can be cleared from View MST by clickingthe refresh icon.
Selecting a Section
To add a section to the student's schedule, click theunder Add by the section. The course associated with that section will be added to the student's Edit Mode workspace and the student will be placed into the selected section. Once Save is clicked, SEC and CAR records are written and the student is enrolled into the section.
When Add is clicked, Aeries checks the section against the database at that moment:
- If the class is full, users with Update permission to the Master Schedule see "Class is full! Continue anyway?"; other users can't add the section. If the school uses wait lists, the student can be added to the wait list instead.
- If Teacher Load Monitoring is on and the teacher is overloaded, users with Update permission to Teacher Data see "Teacher overloaded! Continue anyway?"; other users can't add the section.
- A message also displays if the section is inactive or the student already has the class.
If a section is linked via the Class Link field in MST, adding one section will automatically include other linked sections during the add process. Linked sections in a term that comes before the selected section's term are not added, and if Schedule Only Spring is checked, fall-term linked sections are skipped. If a class with linked sections is dropped, Aeries asks whether to drop the linked sections too.

When Class Link is populated in the Master Schedule table, the value of the field will display on the Master Schedule Display located in the last column labeled ClsLink#.

Refreshing the View MST Popup
The section totals in View MST are loaded once, when View MST is first opened on the Classes page. The refresh icon clears the filters; it does not reload the totals, and closing and reopening the floating or docked view shows the same numbers. To see current totals (for example, when other users are adding students to sections), reload the Classes page in your browser, or click the pop-out icon to open View MST in a separate window, which loads current totals each time it opens.
Even when the totals on screen are out of date, Aeries checks the section when Add is clicked and warns if the class is full or the teacher is overloaded (see Selecting a Section above). Never ignore a warning about a full section, and be aware of sections that are in high demand and nearing their maximums.
