If using the Post Attendance by Month option in Portal Options for Teacher Attendance, the Attendance Reporting Type must be set to Positive Attendance. Refer to: Long Term Independent Study
Attendance can be entered by the month for teachers using the Teacher Portal. This option is only available to schools set up for Positive Attendance. If the school takes period attendance, a Period drop-down also displays on the page.
The System Administrator must configure the schools Portal Options to allow Post Attendance by Month.
When Post Attendance by Month is turned on, teachers take attendance from the Teacher Attendance by Month menu item, which replaces the regular Attendance items, and select a month from the Month drop-down. Teachers click the check box for each day to enter the Present code. Each click saves right away; there is no Save button. Clearing a check box removes the Present code. Teachers need Update permission to Attendance (ATT).
The absence codes also must be configured correctly in Portal Options when using Post Attendance by Month for an Independent Study school.
Under the Attendance Codes section, the Unverified Absent (usually “A”) field should be populated with the Incomplete Independent Study absence code. In the example below the Absent/Incomplete code is an “N”.
The Present (usually “P”) field should be populated with the Complete Independent Study absence code. In the example below the Present/Complete code is a “Q”.
When Post Attendance by Month is turned on, the Date Ranges fields change to # Months Teachers Can Back Post Attendance and # Months Teachers Can Forward Post Attendance, and are counted in months. Only days inside that range can be changed by the teacher. The Enable 'Mark Unmarked Students as Present' button option is turned off automatically. When Tardy is not populated it will not appear on the form.
Allow teachers to override verified absences should be selected.
The Portal Option of Mark Absent if Not Present adds a check box at the top of each date column. Checking it enters the Unverified Absent (Incomplete) code for every student who is not checked present on that date.
The check boxes in the date column will populate a Present/Complete code for the student.
