Issue

The Sibling Lookup Tool button shows questionable matches for students with the same last name but no contacts in common.

Cause

When the Sibling Lookup Tool button is selected, potential matches are shown based on settings in the Mass Assign Family Keys form. The Sibling Lookup Tool button will more accurately display appropriate possible matches in the Contact Match column when the Mass Assign Family Keys form is populated for areas pertaining to the Contacts table.

Resolution

On the Mass Assign Family Keys form, users with Mass Update permission to the Student Siblings Data security area should populate pertinent information to identify areas that should be matched on and save those selections.

Higher match numbers require more fields to match between students for the Mass Assign Family Keys process to assign them the same Family Key.

Lower numbers indicate that fewer fields are required to match. The available values on the slider are 20, 35, 50, 65, and 80.

It is important to always run the process Mass Assign Family Keys first, for all students so that students without a family key can be assigned one.

The settings on the Mass Assign Family Keys form play a key role in the matching process occurring when clicking the Sibling Lookup Tool button.  This information applies to the Sibling Lookup Tool buttons from the Demographics, Siblings, and Contacts pages.
