Overview
A student's Career and Technical Education (CTE) participation information is displayed in Aeries on the Special Programs page. The data is not typically entered manually on this page; rather the CTE indicator is calculated and provided by the TEA in a CSV file which can be imported into Aeries to populate the Program Type field.
See Texas - Import CTE Indicator for TREx.
For PEIMS reporting, CTE indicator is not extracted from the Aeries fields; however fields must be set correctly for students designated as:
- Eligible for CTE Transportation
- Single Parent/Single Pregnant Woman
- Out-of-Workforce Individual
For TREx extracts, the student's CTE indicator is extracted from the PGM.CD and PGM.TY fields. Therefore, the TEA-provided data must be imported into Aeries before the TREx export is created. See Texas - Import CTE Indicator for TREx.
For attendance accounting, the student's CTE hours are calculated according to course data entered on the Courses and Master Schedule pages and a student's Course Attendance (CAR).
Configuration ↑
- On Update Code Table, be sure the following exists:
- CRS.DC = CTE

Course Setup ↑
For any CTE course offered at the school, ensure the following are set:
- Navigate to Scheduling Process > Courses (General tab)
- Dept - Select CTE. The code must already exist on Update Code Table (CRS.DC = CTE).

- V2: 90-134 minutes
- V3: 135-180+ minutes
Three contact hours is the maximum a district may claim for a single course.
Example: A student enrolled in three separate 45-minute CTE courses would be assigned a code of V3 (V1 + V1 + V1 = V3).
- Non-Campus Inst - Indicate if the course is not taught by a school district/charter school employee or a contracted teacher, or is taught by a school district/charter school employee or a contracted teacher at a facility other than the campus where the student is enrolled. (PEIMS Element E1072, code table C182)
- Population Served, as well as other fields on the page, are automatically populated from the Courses page.
- CTE V-Code - Type the number of contact hours generated for the course for an attendance reporting period, which is based on average minutes per day a student will attend in a 10-school day period.
