This is a count of out of school suspensions, not a count of students and not a count of the number of days of suspension. So if one student had 3 separate instances of suspension, each of those instances is included in the count.

  • Count the number of instances of out of school suspension, not the number of students or the number of days.

DISC-12 – School Days Missed Due to Out-of-School Suspensions  


School days missed due to Out-of-School Suspensions – the total number of full school days that were missed because of out-of-school suspensions for students in grades K-12 during the reporting year.



  • These totals are limited to students in grades K-12 .
  • The Out-of-School Suspension codes are those defined on the Codes tab.
  • The Disposition Days (DSP.DY) field is used to calculate the total number of days of school lost to out-of-school suspensions for all students. Each student's CRDC number of days missed to out-of-school suspension is rounded to a whole number. If a student is suspended for less than 50% of the day the number of days missed is rounded down (ex. 2.25 days rounds down to 2 days). If a student is suspended for 50% to 99% of the day the number of days missed is rounded up (ex. 2.5 days rounds up to 3 days). 
  • The Students with Disabilities (IDEA) count includes the K-12 students with IDEA records or with both IDEA and 504 records.
  • The Students with Disabilities (Section 504 only) are students with only 504 records.
