How To - Create and Edit Mastery Schemes

Mastery Scheme Locations

Mastery Schemes inform the configuration of reports in three separate areas: the Family/Student Portal, Progress Report Templates, and Default Course Grades Mastery Scheme (teacher-facing).

Mastery Schemes

Mastery Schemes are the framework of your JumpRope Mastery Reports. Created and managed administratively in the Setup view, a Mastery Scheme determines the details of reports that your users (staff, teachers, families) will have access to. Generally, a school will have one Mastery Scheme for their Course Reports and one Mastery Scheme for their Proficiency-Based Reports (given your school uses a curated standards bank), though they are not limited to this.

A Mastery Scheme framework includes a Grouping Scheme and details like hidden or displayed mastery bars, conversion scores, teacher names, etc.

Hidden and Displayed Details

A popular use-case for mastery schemes is to setup a scheme that is used for the Family/Student Portal and another that is used for teacher Class Mastery views. As an example, the scheme used for the Portal can 'hide' a course score during the term while the scheme for teacher-facing mastery views can display the course score.

Grouping Schemes

The term Grouping Scheme refers to the organization levels of a given Mastery report. During setup, administrators choose from several different Grouping Schemes depending on the desired representation of student mastery data. In general, each level group in a Grouping Scheme is dependent upon it's underlying elements. The most disaggregated level is always an individual score entered for an assessment.

Like with Mastery Schemes, there are two common setups for Grouping Schemes. The first is a Course Based Report. Generally, these reports are grouped/organized: Course -> Standard Type -> Parent Standard -> Child Standard. Other groupings are available but the Course level is always the first/highest in the organization. Here's an example:

Another common Grouping Scheme is a Proficiency Summary. These schemes first organize outside of courses. A common example is Content Area -> Parent Standard -> Child Standard -> Course. Here's an example using the same data as the Course report above:
