Use assessment differentiation when an assignment applies to only part of a class. The score cell will not be available for student who are not selected for the given assignment; they cannot be scored accidentally.

Manage assignments when an assessment is created, or later

Open Student Assignments for the assessment to review or change its student list.

Why some students cannot be removed

A student with any entered score is locked to the assessment so their scored work cannot be detached accidentally. A score of 0 counts as an entered score and locks the checkbox. Null, blank, and deleted scores mean no score and do not lock the student.

What teachers and students see

• In Comfy Gradesheet view, an unassigned cell shows Not Assigned.
• In Cozy view, it shows N/A.
• Unassigned cells are skipped during keyboard navigation and fill-down.
• Unassigned students do not appear on the assessment's Score page.
• Students do not see unassigned assessments in upcoming work.

New students, imports, and copies

• A student added later joins assessments marked All Students. They are not added automatically to assessments using an individual subset.
• If an import contains scores for unassigned students, JumpRope pauses and lets you include or skip each student, with Add All and Skip All shortcuts. Included students are assigned before their scores import; skipped students are omitted.
• Copying an all-students assessment keeps All Students. When copying a subset assessment to the same class, JumpRope asks whether to keep the selected students. Copying to a different class always defaults to All Students.
• Editing student selection in JumpRope does not push the change back to Google Classroom.
