Navigate to School Info > Functions Mass Add Student Related Data 

or Student Data > Programs > Special Programs


Student support for dyslexia and related disorders is maintained on Special Programs, including screening, dyslexia indicators, and program participation. You can also mass add the data.


For Texas State Reporting, there are multiple elements related to dyslexia support:

  • DYSLEXIA-INDICATOR-CODE (E1530) is reported in Submissions 1 and 3.
  • DYSLEXIA-RISK-CODE (E1644) is reported in Submission 3 (KG and 1st grade only).
  • DYSLEXIA-SCREENING-EXCEPTION-REASON (E1732) is reported in Submission 3 (KG and 1st grade only) (new for 2022-2023).
  • DYSLEXIA-SERVICES-CODE (E1650) is reported in Submission 3.

Configurations  

  • On Course History Institutions, ensure all campuses where students have received dyslexia services or screening have been added.

  • On Update Code Table, ensure the following codes are set up correctly:
    • Dyslexia Risk Screening Status (PGR.ST).  State codes (C222) are automatically added and do not need to be manually added.
    • Dyslexia Risk Screening Reason PGR.RS. State codes (C231) are automatically added and do not need to be manually added. 
    • Dyslexia Services Received (PGS.SR). State codes (C224) are automatically added and do not need to be manually added.
    • Dyslexia Services Setting (PGM.IS)
    • Dyslexia Services Outcomes (PGM.OP)
    • Dyslexia Training Type (PGM.TT)
    • Disadvantage Status (PGM.DS)
    • Special Program Codes 399 and 400 are automatically added to the Special Programs table (PGM.CD) and generally do not need to be manually added.

  • If the district requires alternate codes for dyslexia, update PGM.CD on Update Codes Table and map them to state-required codes on Texas State Reporting > Code Translations.

The following data can be mass added from Mass Add Student Related Data. See Mass Add Student Related Data.

Otherwise, use the steps below to update data for an individual student. 


Dyslexia Screening

For Submission 3, the following steps are completed for KG and 1st grade students (STU.GR = K or 1) to indicate that screening has occurred for all students as required. 

As of the 2022-2023 school year, DYSLEXIA-SCREENING-EXCEPTION-REASON must be reported for KG and 1st grade students who were not screened for dyslexia or related disorders.

  1. Click Add under Program Screenings:
    • Program Code (PGR.CD) - Code 399-Dyslexia Risk indicates a student in KG or 1st grade has been screened for risk of dyslexia or related disorders.
    • Date (PGR.DT) - The date on which the student was screened.
    • Status (PGR.ST) - Codes 01, 02, or 03 indicate the status of screening. (E1644) (C222)
    • Comment (PGR.CO) - Any additional comments about the screening record.
    • Reason (PGR.RS) - Indicates the Dyslexia Screening Exception Reason that identifies why a student in KG or 1st grade was not screened for risk of dyslexia or related disorders. (E1732) (C231)
  2. Click Save.


Dyslexia Indication

For Submissions 1 and 3, DYSLEXIA-INDICATOR-CODE (E1530) is required for all students. Students with PGM.CD = 400 are reported as having dyslexia or a related disorder.

  1. Click Add under Current Programs.
    • Program Code (PGM.CD) - Code 400 indicates the student is identified as having dyslexia or a related disorder.
    • Program Code (PGM.PSD) - Enter the date the student started receiving services for dyslexia or a related disorder.  This program will roll to the next school year and the date does not need to be entered each school year. 
  2. Click Save.


Dyslexia Program Participation

For Submission 3, DYSLEXIA-SERVICES-CODE (E1650) must be reported for students participating in a dyslexia program. The code is extracted from the Services Received field for any student whose Program Code is 400.

  1. Click Add under Current Programs.
    • Program Code (PGM.CD) - Code 400 indicates the student is identified as having dyslexia or a related disorder. 
    • Yrs in Prgm (PGM.YP) - The number of years the student has participated in the program, set manually.
    • Hours (PGM.HR) - The number of hours per week the student receives services for dyslexia or a related disorder.
    • Start Date (PGM.PSD) - The date on which the student started receiving services for dyslexia or a related disorder. 
    • End Date (PGM.PED) - The date on which the student stopped receiving services for dyslexia or a related disorder. 
    • Services Received (PGM.SR) - Codes 00-03 indicate the services received for dyslexia or a related disorder. The codes correspond to C224.
    • Status (PGM.ST) - The student's eligibility to participate in the program. Not currently required for Texas.
    • Enter Grade (PGM.EG) - The grade level of the student when the student started receiving services for dyslexia or a related disorder, set manually. Not currently required for Texas. 
    • Setting (PGM.IS) - The locally defined code indicating the setting where the student receives services for dyslexia or a related disorder. Not currently required for Texas. 
    • Exit Reason (PGM.ER) - The reason the student stopped receiving services for dyslexia or a related disorder.  Not currently required for Texas. 
    • Outcome (PGM.OP) - The locally defined outcome for the student. Not currently required for Texas. 
    • Training Type (PGM.TT) - The locally defined type of training offered to the student. Not currently required for Texas. 
    • Disadvantaged Status (PGM.DS) - The locally defined code indicating economic disadvantage status. Not currently required for Texas. 
    • Auth Release Info (PGM.ARI) - Whether the school has authorization to release the student's dyslexia services information to others. Not currently required for Texas. 
    • School(PGM.SCL) - The code and name of the campus where the student received dyslexia services.  Not currently required for Texas. 
      • To search for a campus, click in the field. The campus must exist on the Course History Institutions page.
    • Comment (PGM.CO) - Any additional comments about the record. 
  2. Click Save.
