The Income Survey available in Parent Data Confirmation is an additional tool for districts and does not replace a formal meal application.  The formal meal application is  still required for provisional districts in a baseline establishment year.


The Income Survey is most helpful in years when formal applications are not collected since CALPADS wants individual student income Information annually but formal meal applications may not be collected annually.  If a provisional district is in a non-baseline establishment year, the Income Survey provides a mechanism for the district to gather household income information outside of the formal meal application process.  


The Income Survey is not needed in a year when districts obtain formal meal applications.  If a district decides to gather information using the Income Survey available in Parent Data Confirmation, the data collected can be tracked/identified/queried by the value placed in the Source (FRE.SRC) field.
