Setting up the Calendar (DAY) for a Low Attendance Day Waiver is utilized for a day when school was held but attendance was at least 10 percentage points below the overall average attendance rate for the district or applicable campus for the prior year because of issues related to inclement weather, health, or safety.  Districts may apply for a waiver to have the day excluded from ADA and FSP funding calculations. (SAAH 3.8.1.3)

Adding a Low Attendance Day Waiver changes a Calendar date to a Non-Instructional Day and is reported in the Calendar with a CALENDAR-WAIVER-EVENT-TYPE-CODE (E1570) to indicate the type of Waiver and Waiver Minutes for TSDS PEIMS reporting.

Attendance data for students should remain in place for historical and documentation purposes since the day was an actual instructional day and student attendance was recorded.

Students who enrolled or withdrew on the date changed to Low Attendance Day Waiver will need to have their enrollment or withdrawal date adjusted as this will no longer be recognized as an instructional day.

Attendance reports should be re-run to recalculate student attendance since this date will no longer be considered for purposes of determining ADA percentage and funding

Step 1

  • On the Calendar page, select Low Attendance Waiver Day in DAY.WC
  • For schools with multiple Attendance Tracks - if the waiver minutes are different for each Attendance Track, enter the waiver and waiver minutes on each individual Attendance Track by selecting the track in the Attendance Track field. Do not enter the waiver and waiver minutes on the default calendar unless the waiver minutes are the same for all Attendance Tracks.

Step 2

  • Enter the School Day Waiver Minutes in DAY.WM

Step 3

  • Run the Student Attendance Detail Report for the affected Attendance Reporting Period, selecting the option to Recompute Attendance Reporting Details (ARD).
    • This can be done from the Reports Tab or in the Mass from the Mass Run Attendance Reports page.
