NOTE: The Aeries Mobile Portal Apps is available for both iOS and Android phones.
NOTE: The 10/20/2017 Aeries Web Version is the minimum version for the Aeries Mobile Portal App to function against.
The Aeries Mobile Portal requires some initial setup - school districts must generate a Public/Private Key with Aeries Software and register a Public URL.
The following steps need to be completed before parents and students will be able to locate their schools in the Aeries Mobile Portal app:
- Contact Aeries Software Support to receive a unique Authorization Code. The Authorization Code is used in combination with a public/private key pair to allow for secure transmission of data from your district to the Aeries Mobile Portal app.
- Update the Authorization Code and Generate the Key Pair on the School Options screen for the District (School 0) school
- Enable the OAuth Settings
- Ensure that the Aeries Mobile Portal is enabled and the Public URL reflects the Parent/Student portal URL.
Update Auth Code and Generate Keys
Contact Aeries Software Support to receive a unique Authorization Code. Once you have received the Authorization Code go to the District Options page by navigating to School Info | School Options and choosing the District (school code 0). Click the Change button to continue.
Under the District Authorization Code area click on the Update Auth Code button.
Enter the Authorization Code provided by Aeries Software Support and then click on the Generate Key Pair button.
After a moment, the following message will display. Click OK to continue and return to the District Options page.
Once the Authorization Code has been entered into the system and the Keys have been generated you can display your District's Public Key by going into Edit mode on the District Options page and clicking on the View Public Key button. This is for informational purposes only. There should never be a need to use this information except when troubleshooting with Aeries Support.
Enable OAuth Settings
On the District Options page go to the OAuth Settings area.
Enable OAuth, enter the Public URL for your Aeries Web interface, and select a Signing Certificate. The Signing Certificate should be set to the valid root CA (Certificate Authority) for your installed SSL certificate.
NOTE: Any changes to the OAuth Settings requires a full IIS reset for the changes to take effect. Please be aware that resetting IIS will terminate sessions for all users that are currently logged into Aeries, so it is best to reset IIS during a planned time when it will not effect most users.
Enable Aeries Mobile Portal
On the District Options page go to the Mobile App Settings area.
Enable Aeries Mobile Portal if it is not already enabled. The Public URL defaults to the public URL for your Aeries Web interface. Enter the Public URL for your Parent/Student Portal if it is different than the URL for your Aeries Web application.
NOTE: any changes to the Mobile App Settings requires a full IIS reset for the changes to take effect. Please be aware that resetting IIS will terminate sessions for all users that are currently logged into Aeries, so it is best to reset IIS during a planned time when it will not effect most users.
After all changes have been made click the Update button for the District Options page to finish.
