Aeries Header (all pages)


The User Menu allows you to update certain Aeries-wide settings for your account, manage your password, and log out of Aeries. 


You can access Account Settings from the User Menu. The Account Settings page displays the user details for your account and allows you to customize certain features, including shortcut keys (i.e., hot keys).

Steps




  View and update account settings

  1. Click the Avatar in the top-right corner of any Aeries page.

    The User Menu opens. The following settings can be updated from the User Menu:

    Highlight State Reporting Fields
    • If enabled, any fields required for state reporting are shaded green. 
    • If disabled, the state reporting fields are not identified by green shading. 

    The fields used for state reporting are determined by Aeries, not users.
    Enable Dark ModeSome users prefer dark mode in order to reduce eye strain.
    • If enabled, light-color text is displayed against a dark background.
    • If disabled, dark-color text is displayed against a light background.

    This setting can also be changed on the Account Settings page.

    The feature is not available in Aeries Portals.

  2. Select Account Settings to open the Account Settings page where additional account settings can be viewed.

  3. Click Edit to update User Details and System Preferences


    The Edit Account Settings window opens with the User Details and System Preferences fields enabled.

  4. Under User Details:

    IDThe user ID associated with the account currently logged into Aeries

    The ID is automatically assigned to the account when the the account is created.
    User NameThe unique user name associated with the account currently logged into Aeries
    Date CreatedThe date on which your Aeries user account was created
    Expiration DateThe date on which your Aeries account will expire, if applicable
    StatusWhether your account is Active

    Only Active accounts can log in. Accounts with Locked, Disabled, or Pending status cannot log in.
    Login CountThe total count of times this user account has logged into Aeries since the account was created
    Last Login Date & TimeThe date and time at which this user account last logged into Aeries

    This information allows you to note any unusual access times which may be a security concern.
    Last Login IPThe IP address of the device used by the last user who last logged into Aeries using this user account

    This information allows you to note any unrecognized IP addresses which may be a security concern.
    Email AddressThe email address associated with the account currently logged into Aeries

    The address can be updated if needed.
    First NameThe first name associated with the account currently logged into Aeries

    The First Name is optional when creating an account so the field may be blank. The name can be updated if needed.
    Last NameThe surname associated with the account currently logged into Aeries

    The Last Name is optional when creating an account so the field may be blank. The name can be updated if needed.

  5. Under System Preferences:



    Reduce Row Spacing on Supported PagesIf enabled, the space between rows is reduced on any Aeries page that displays a list of records, which allows more content to be visible on a page.

    If disabled, rows are spaced normally.
    Show Welcome Banner on HomepageIf enabled, a banner is displayed on your Aeries page offering a tour of new Aeries features. The banner can be disabled from the homepage by clicking the Close icon.


    If disabled, the banner is not displayed on your Aeries homepage. 
    Warn When Switching Schools from Student SearchThis setting only applies to users who have access to more than one school.

    This setting applies to the Student Search feature.

    • If enabled, a warning message is displayed if you select a student from the search results who is enrolled at a school other than the school you are currently logged into. The message is displayed to notify you that you will be logging into another school if you proceed with selecting the student.

    • If disabled, no warning message is displayed if you select a student from the search results who is enrolled at a school other than the school you are currently logged into. You will automatically log into another school if you proceed with selecting the student.

    • If enabled, light-color text is displayed against a dark background.
    • If disabled, dark-color text is displayed against a light background.

    This setting can also be changed in the User Menu.

    The feature is not available in Aeries Portals.
    Default Landing PageBy default, the Aeries homepage opens when you log into Aeries.

    Select Last Page Viewed to always open to the last page you accessed before logging out of Aeries the last time.

    Select Navigation Page to select a specific page that will always open when you log into Aeries. When selected, the Navigation Page field is enabled allowing you to select the page.
    Navigation PageThe field is only enabled if Default Landing Page is set to Navigation Page.

    Select the page you wish to open every time you log into Aeries. Only pages you have access to are listed.

    Click the Clear icon to unselect the page.

    If blank, the Aeries homepage will open when you log into Aeries.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Click Edit to update Shortcut Keys.

    A shortcut key is a combination of key strokes that provides quick access to a particular action or feature.





    The Edit Account Settings window opens with the Shortcut Keys fields enabled.

    Initially, default keys are displayed. To restore default keys at any time, click Reset to Default




    Search WindowSelect the combination of keys that will open the Student Search window.

    The default setting is CTRL+ALT+G. 
    Next/Previous StudentSelect the combination of keys that will move to the previous or next student alphabetically, or according to your specified criteria.

    Select Enable Right Arrow or Enable Left Arrow to allow use of the left/right arrow keyboard keys instead of a character key.

    The default settings are CTRL+ALT+F (Next) and CTRL+ALT+B (Previous) with arrow keys disabled.
    First/Last StudentSelect the combination of keys that will move to the first or last student alphabetically, or according to your specified criteria.

    Select Enable Up Arrow or Enable Down Arrow to allow use of the up/down arrow keyboard keys instead of a character key.

    The default settings are CTRL+ALT+1 (First) and CTRL+ALT+9 (Last) with arrow keys disabled.
    Enable Right/Left/Up/Down ArrowSpecify which arrow keys can be used to quickly navigate to Next/Previous Student and First/Last Student. See above.

    If disabled, the arrow key does not move to another student.


    NOTE: Arrow keys are not compatible with all web browsers and computers. Some systems reserve CTRL + ALT + arrow keys to rotate the monitor. In this case, the hot keys must be disabled on your local system in order to use the arrow shortcut keys in Aeries.

  8. Click Save.

  Change password


  1. Click the Avatar in the top-right corner of any Aeries page.

    The User Menu opens. 




  2. From the User Menu select Change Password.

    The Change Your Aeries Password page opens. 


  3. Enter the following:

    Old Password
    Your current password 
    New Password
    A new password

    See Aeries Password Requirements.
    New Password Again
    Retype the new password to ensure you typed what you intended.


  4. Click Update. The password is changed.

  Log out of Aeries


The Log Out feature ends your current Aeries session for all open pages, including all browser windows and tabs. Any unsaved changes are lost when you log out.


  1. From the User Menu in the top-right corner of any Aeries page, select Log Out.
