Is there a report or query that will provide the total number of Service Learning Hours completed by student?

Service Learning hours by student are stored in the Service Learning Hours (SLH) table. SLH has one record per student per Service Learning Area, so a student assigned to more than one area appears once for each area. Include SLH.CD (the area code) to see which area each row is for. Only approved log entries are counted.

Total hours by student

LIST STU SLH STU.ID STU.LN STU.FN STU.GR SLH.CD SLH.TS SLH.TP SLH.HR IF SLH.HR > 0

  • TS = total student hours
  • TP = total parent hours
  • HR = total hours counted toward the requirement

Hours earned in one grade level

This example lists 10th graders' hours earned in 10th grade. Change the 10s to list another grade (9, 11 or 12):

LIST STU SLH STU.ID STU.LN STU.FN STU.GR SLH.CD SLH.S10 SLH.P10 IF STU.GR = 10 AND SLH.S10 > 0

  • S10 = approved student hours logged while the student was in 10th grade
  • P10 = approved parent hours for 10th grade

To limit the list to one area, add AND SLH.CD = "<area code>". When banking is turned off for an area, hours over the requirement still appear in the grade columns but are not included in TS, TP and HR.

Individual log entries

To see each logged entry, including pending and denied ones, query the Service Learning Log (SLL) table (Status: A = Approved, D = Denied, blank = Pending):

LIST STU SLL STU.ID STU.LN STU.FN SLL.DT SLL.AC SLL.HR SLL.ST

NOTE: SLH holds stored totals. They are recalculated when the student's Service Learning page is opened or when the Service Learning Deficient Hours By Student report is run. To make sure every student's totals are current, run that report first (all grades, and check Include Inactive Students if needed). Check Include Inactive Students on the Query page too if needed. Querying SLH requires Read permission to Service Learning Hours (SLH).

The Service Learning Deficient Hours By Student report also shows Required, Completed and Deficient hours for one Service Learning Area.
