Does the Block Schedule Calendar or the Split Term in the MST Section determine if a Section will be available for Attendance?

This depends on the situation. There are two scenarios to consider:

1. If the MST Split Term indicates that a class meets every day from Monday to Friday, but the Block Schedule Calendar specifies that the class will not meet on a particular Date, then the Block Schedule Calendar takes precedence, and the class will not meet on that specified date.

  • Example: Section 1086 meets M-F according to the MST Split Term, but the Section does not meet on Tuesday, 7/2/2024 per the Block Schedule Calendar. In this scenario, the Block Schedule takes precedence and this Section will not meet on 7/2/2024
  • The MST Split Term cannot force a Section to meet if the Block Schedule Calendar is not set to meet on that date

2. If the MST Split Term indicates that a class does not meet on a specific day, then the Block Schedule Calendar cannot override this and make the class meet on that day. In this scenario, the MST Split Term takes precedence over the Block Schedule Calendar.

  • Example: Section 2108 meets MWThF according to the Split Term, but Period 2 does meet on Tuesday, 7/2/2024 per the Block Schedule Calendar. In this scenario, the MST Split Term takes precedence and this Section will not meet on 7/2/2024
  • The Block Schedule Calendar cannot force a Section to meet if the MST Split Term is not set to meet on that day
