End of support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 in Aeries Cloud Services

Aeries Cloud Services is pleased to announce that it is moving exclusively to Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2+ to provide best-in-class encryption, and to ensure our services are more secure by default.

Who does this affect?

On June 19, 2020 Aeries Cloud Services will no longer support TLS 1.0 and 1.1. This means that any connection using these protocols will no longer work as expected, and no support will be provided.

Does this affect self-hosted customers?

This change does not affect self-hosted customers. However, it is recommended that all self-hosted customers remove all TLS 1.0/1.1 dependencies in their own environments, and that they disable TLS 1.0/1.1 at the operating system level.

What needs to happen to prepare for this change?

You should ensure that all client-server and browser-server combinations use TLS 1.2 (or a later version), to maintain the connection to Aeries Cloud Services.

Products that may be affected include:

  • Aeries Web (Aeries.NET) - Any connections made to Aeries Web must support TLS 1.2. Most modern operating systems already do by default.
  • Aeries API - Any connections made by 3rd-party vendors must support TLS 1.2 to continue functioning.
  • OneRoster API - Any connections made by 3rd-party vendors must support TLS 1.2 to continue functioning.
  • Online Enrollment (AIR) - Online Enrollment already requires TLS 1.2 or later for the import function to work.
