Information - CALPADS Course Changes for the 2019-2020 School Year

CALPADS/CDE is making changes to the State Course Group Codes and the Course (CRSE) file for the 2019-2020 school year.  Academic State Course Codes will be streamlined and new general codes will be added.

Note:  The CTE course codes will NOT be changing (7000-8999)

There are also several new data elements that will be added to the Course (CRSE) file layout.

CALPADS has not yet published the new Course (CRSE) file or the new Code Set for the 2019-2020 school year. We have draft versions of the Course (CRSE) file changes and codes that we are evaluating now.

Note:  Changes to the Course (CRS) table should not be made until the 2019-2020 database is created after the Rollover process completed.

Attached is an excel sheet with a mapping worksheet that includes the new data elements and new codes.  This is the same worksheet available to districts that attend the “CALPADS Course Codes, Assignment Monitoring, and LCAP Federal Addendum Equity Data Training”.

Districts can begin populating the mapping worksheet now.  We are planning on adding some features in Aeries in July to help with these new CALPADS Course changes.   We will update this post with new information as we receive it.

Aeries will be adding the following soon to help with the new State Course Code mapping: for the 2019-2020 school year

  • A new field will be added to the Course table for the "New State Course Code" CRS.NC3.
  • A cross-walk will be available in Aeries to map the old State Course Codes to the new codes based on the document attached.
  • During the Rollover process the  "New State Course Code" CRS.NC3 field will be moved to the current "State Course Code" CSR.C3

These changes are in development now.  We are hoping to have them available by June.
