Why Aeries gradebook for Teachers is Awesome??

Hello,

I've been getting a lot of push back from the teaching staff about wanting to intergrate the Aeries gradebook/report card system into our school next year. We currently use Aeries for attendance and calpads....but I'm slowly trying to get us to use it for everything. My goal is that next school year to use the parent portal and gradebook/report cards all in one area.

The Principal just asked me to write a 1 page reason why would should do this...especially since the teachers are very comfortable with using jupiter grades. We are a small school(only 130 kids with 7 teachers total), but I love the idea of being able to print out grades for students/parents at my desk.

Anyone else have reason on why Aeries is the way to go???

I, too, work for Aeries.  However, my former district adopted the Web gradebooks from the beginning for all grades 1-12.  Aeries is always open and listening to the customer.  It is awesome because it has been created with tremendous input from teachers and districts.

Key reasons that my former district mandated all teacher use Aeries gradebooks:

  • Ease of use.  One-stop-shop for teachers. Meaning they log in, take attendance, manage their gradebook, view student data, etc.  No need for multiple logins.
  • Teacher resources:  Teacher Resources
  • Extensive documentation to assist Aeries Admins and a Quick Start Guide for teachers to get started. Gradebook in Freshdesk
  • Supports traditional grading and standards based grading.
  • Interfaces with Google and EADMS.
  • Automated processes that reduced teacher entry.  A couple of examples include: Dates auto-populate to align with school terms.  The ability to have students "automatically" be added or dropped to the gradebook based on enrollment status.
  • Many gradebook features exist to assist teachers with navigation.  For example: Gradebook Dashboard, Scores by Class, filtering tools, sorting options, color coded categories, multiple view options. linking gradebooks, mass add features, etc.
  • For linked gradebooks, if a student switches periods with the same teacher, the grades will follow.
  • Students enrolling mid-term can be added to the gradebook with a percentage that reflects their grade upon entry.
  • Grades can be pushed the report card with a few simple clicks.
  • Districts build custom standards based report cards and assignments in the gradebook can be linked to those standards.
  • Districts can create "template" gradebooks which can be provided to teachers.
  • Using Aeries gradebooks increases communication with parents on student progress.  Progress reports and various assignment reports can be easily emailed to parents.  If using the portal, parents can request to have a weekly progress report to be emailed to them.  The gradebook information is visible in the portal including assignment details.
  • The administrators can view a students progress on the profile page which is so useful when speaking with parents.  Summary reports are available to the school administrators.
  • A deleted gradebook is automatically backed up and Administrators can quickly backup all gradebooks during each grading cycle.
  • Gradebooks can easily be transferred to another teacher if a teacher leaves the district during the school year.
  • Aeries Support is always available to help Aeries Admins when teachers present them with issues.

Hoping that this list will assist you.  I am also going to privately send you an email with my former Tech Director's contact information.  I reached out to her and she is very happy to discuss the gradebook and address any questions or concerns that you may have.

The Aeries Gradebook is awesome...and I'm not saying that just because I work for Aeries. I previously worked at two different school districts, both of which transitioned to the Aeries gradebook during my time there. I totally understand your need to "sell" the gradebook and Aeries to others.

Having all student data in one place is a great thing. This makes it easy to look at gradebook information alongside other information already in the SIS such as attendance, contact information, and more. Gradebook data can easily be queried at any time. From an administrator's perspective, they will appreciate this. In fact attendance information displays right within the gradebook letting the teacher know if a student was absent or tardy on the date an assignment was assigned or due. This is a valuable information that teachers can use.

Thanks Kevin.

I would love to also speak to the reasons why the teachers would find this more helpful. Especially since I need to tell them why this is more valuable to do than the current programming of Jupiter Grades.
