We received further clarification on a new requirement for the SSB for students whose primary language is other than English. https://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/el/er/ssbfaq.asp
Passed in 2017, Assembly Bill (AB) 1142 updates EC Section 51461(a)(2) to state that students must pass the California Assessment of English Performance and Progress (CAASPP) or any successor test, administered in grade eleven, at or above the "standard met" achievement level. This section had previously named the California Standards Test (CST) as the required assessment. AB 1142 also updates EC Section 51461(b)(1). The required assessment for students whose primary language is other than English was updated from the California English Language Development Test (CELDT) to the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC).
Based on this, the Biliteracy Seal process in Aeries will be updated so that students that are reclassified automatically meet Requirement #4. It is development now and will ship once it passes Quality Control. No ETA at this time.
As a work-around now, the requirement #4 can be manually changed to "Passed" for these students.
Kathy, do you know why a student who is IFEP (from CELDT back in 2006) would not have their Requirement#4 marked as Passed? I have students in that situation who have that requirement marked as CELDT/ELPAC Not found. The CELDT results are in the TST table, and the IFEP date is populated in LAC, along with the LF code for IFEP in student demographics.
